A fast bewildering attack coupled with an airtight defense gave the Freshman quintet an overwhelming victory Saturday afternoon over Worcester Academy. The score, 25-14, against the team that had swamped the 1927 five 40-12, was all the more surprising because of the absence of both regular forwards and the first and second string centers.
Pusey, getting his first real chance of the season, was the outstanding player on the floor, scoring five of the twelve Freshman goals. Barbee also did well, though shifted from his regular position at guard to center.
The Worcester team held the Freshmen to a 4-4 tie in the first quarter, but after that 1928 broke away and never was in danger, leading 14 to 6 at half time. Worcester scored only 2 goals from the floor in the entire game.
The summary follows:
Score, Harvard Freshmen 25, Worcester 14. Goals from the floor, Pusey 5, Barbee 2, Othout 2, Meisenbach 2, Cozzens, Carpenter, Follette. Goals from fouls, McGuire 4, Follette 4, Hurley 2, Pusey. Referee, Souders. Time, 10-minute quarters.
