The University fencing team will take the floor against the J. Sanford Saltus Club of New York at 3 o'clock this afternoon in Hemenway Gymnasium.
The meet with the J. Sanford Saltus Club will be the fifth of the season for the University team for whom the record shows a clean slate of four victories. The team took two decisive wins from Bowdoin and Syracuse, just barely won over the Army 7-6, and defeated M. I. T. last week 10 to 3, thereby qualifying for the Intercollegiate Fencing Tournament which is to be held in New York on April 2 and 3. The J. Sanford Saltus Club, which is a branch club of the French Y. M. C. A. in New York, is regarded as having one of the foremost teams in the country. It has long taken a prominent part in fencing activities along with the New York Athletic Club and the New York Fencing Club.
The University team has been built up around Captain R. H. Durham '25 and Lendon Snedeker '25, both veterans from last year's team. The mainstays of the Saltus Club team are Warren Dow and Jules Devine, both prominent in fencing circles.
