A PIRATE RAID

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Those golden twins, Gilbert and Sullivan, are about to file auspiciously into Boston with the resounding accompaniment of "I am the Lord High Chancellor" and a crew of genteel pirates. No matter who is the producer, these Victorian gentlemen are guaranteed to amuse: and when the leader in their resurrection is Winthrop Ames even more may be anticipated--if more than amusement is desired in light opera.

New York, intent on nursing its own sophistication, weakened before the advance of Mr. Ames and his company. Flappers, or whatever such creatures are being called this season, were heard to company Mr. Sullivan not unfavorably with Mr. Gershwin, Gilbert was hailed in certain quarters as a second Anne Caldwell. Up and down Broadway the question ran--how about signing these boys up for a new show?

These boys, to the great misfortune of their admirers, have been signed up permanently for some time. But their delicious pieces have not lessened in appeal. To those students whose lot it is to remain in Cambridge for the vacation Gilbert and Sullivan will be welcomed as saving graces. To those who are leaving they may be regarded as something in which to return.
