Hugo Krave 1L., of Detroit, Michigan, emerged victor in the first annual handball tournament held in the University. In the final match, played off at 4.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, in Hemenway Gymnasium, Krave defeated M. H. Levy 2L., of New York City. The scores for the match were 19-21, 21-15, and 21-8.
A gold medal will be awarded by the Harvard Athletic Association to the winner and a silver medal to the runner-up. Originally, handball was a recreative elective sport for Freshmen, but so much interest has been shown by both Freshmen and upperclassmen, that the ten courts provided for this game have been in constant use. This year the tournament open to all the members of the University was held, and according to the H. A. A., will be continued in future years as a regular activity in the intramural program. Thirty-six men entered the final tournament.
