HARVARD REPUBLICANS ELECT CLARK TO DIRECT CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES

At a meeting of the Harvard Undergraduate Republican Club in the Faculty Room of the Harvard Union, last-night, Forrester Andrew Clark '29, of Boston, was elected chairman. Four sub-chairmen will head various committees to assist Clark in organizing the Republican campaign among Harvard Undergraduates.

F. L. Felton '29 was chosen secretary-treasurer, while W. B. Cowen '30, will be in charge of the arrangements committee. Geoffrey Parsons Jr. '30, will handle publicity.

To Furnish Absentee Vote Data

N. M. Sachs '29 will collect data about absentee voting in the various states. He will offer information on this, which will inform undergraduates on how to vote. Sachs will be in his room in Thayer 23 this morning and this evening to welcome Harvard Republicans who are interested in taking an active part in the campaign. Free literature and Hoover buttons will also be obtainable.

The club is planning to hold several competitions for several open positions on the executive committee. Already, besides the men who are listed above as officers, three other men are members of this committee. D. T. Field '31, A. R. Sweezy '29, and W. S. Youngman '29 complete this committee which will have general charge of the club.

Speakers Sought

Nationally prominent Republicans will be procured to speak at the Union, and there is a possibility that Herbert Hoover himself will come to Harvard for a short speech under the auspices of the Club.

30 Attend Meeting

The meeting last night was attended by about 30 undergraduates and alumni, and, until the election of Clark as chairman, the gathering was conducted by W. E. Stearns '23 who was interested in the club while an undergraduate and is at present chairman of the executive committee of the Harvard Alumni Republican Club.

Frederick Snyder, who as an appointee under Wilson on the Food Administration had considerable personal contact with the Republican nominee spoke on the qualifications of Herbert Hoover for the presidency. Mr. Snyder was formerly head of the Boston Chamber of Commerce and is at present a trustee of that body.
