WINTER TRACK MEN OPEN SEASON TODAY

Bright Array of Stars and Promising Group of Freshmen Included Among 1930 Prospects

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

This afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Soldiers Field locker building, Head Coach E.L. Farrell will meet all aspirants for the University and Freshman winter track teams to open the season officially.

At this meeting, Coach Farrell, Captain T.F. Mason '30, and Manager C.E. Galston '30 will outline to the candidates the plans for winter track and field activity. Last year over 100 men reported, and it is hoped that this year will bring out as many as 120 men. The first few weeks of the preliminary training, which will start at once, will be devoted to general practice sessions with frequent time trials.

K. of C. Meet This Month

Although the first meet in which the University and Freshman teams will participate comes on January 25, the main objective of the winter season is the annual Triangular meet with Dartmouth and Cornell in the Boston Garden on February 24. In preparation for this, Coach Farrell, who should have a fairly strong team, will enter a large number of men in the Knights of Columbus meet in the Boston Garden on January 25. The showing of the men in this meet will to a great extent determine the makeup of the team which will compete against Dartmouth and Cornell.
