The resolution forwarded by the Phillips Brooks House Association to the Corporation is one more carefully considered objection to the action of the Corporation excluding from the dedication tablet of the Memorial Chapel the names of those who died in the services of the Central Powers. The Association founds its opposition not only on moral grounds natural to the institution but also on a reasonable interpretation of pertinent facts.
In requesting an exhaustive inquiry the Association justly seeks to discover the bases for the decision of the Corporation. The latter body has not made clear its case and it is difficult, without an explanation, to find justification for it.
By this resolution Harvard men confirm that they desire to commemorate all their older brothers who died as Christians and as Harvard men. While compromise is often a solution, there ought be no grudging or half-way quality attached to a memorial of honorable dead.
