Playing its last game before the midyear period, the University basketball team played heads-up basketball to down a strong Vermont team Saturday night in the Indoor Athletic Building, 23 to 18. Coach Wachter again changed his lineup to that Nevin saw action for the first time this season. He was relieved at right forward by Levan, and Matursevitch, while the left forward position was held down by Merry and Kimbrough.
The game was closely contested, throughout, especially in the first half, however. Vermont, led by Palmer, who was high scorer for the night, managed to build up a scant lead of 12 to 11 at the half but Harvard came back with a strong attack at the start of the second period to gain the lead, which it held to the end by virtue of its good defensive play.
The summary: Score--Harvard 23, Vermont 18. Goals--Merry 4, Huppuch, Levan, Upton; Palmer 4, Beckley, Taft. Fouls--Hageman 2, Reisner 2, Boys, Huppuch, Kimbrough, Levan, Nevin: Morgan 4, Palmer 2. Referee--Rogers. Umpire--Harris. Time--Two 20-min. periods.
