PLANNING A CAREER

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To get a job is the first consideration of the college graduate, but at Harvard very little is done to assist him in finding congenial and profitable work. This is a deficiency for which both the administration and the undergraduate body are to blame.

An official of the Alumni Placement Service stresses the fact that the Seniors whom he assists in securing positions would have far more success in their quest for jobs if they possessed more than a passing interest in, and knowledge of, the places for which they apply. However, most students are apparently oblivious of the need for serious thought about their careers and too little is done to enlighten them. An increase in the activity of the Consultant's Office is necessary to supply undergraduates which is so essential.

It is imperative to secure more forceful publicity, provide more intimate and prolonged contact with those who do avail themselves of this service and in general to stimulate and expand the activities of those who conduct this work. Such a policy depends for its success upon the cooperation of the student body who must be made aware of the importance of the problem.
