HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
Geoffrey Leonard Stagg, of Birmingham, England, 2G, has been awarded the Joseph Hodges Choato Memorial Fellowship, for the year 1935-36, carrying $2000 of the largest fellowship stipends offered at the University, it was announced today.
A graduate of Cambridge University, England, in 1934, Stagg is studying in the department of Romance Languages at Harvard.
The fellowship was donated by the Harvard Club of New York in memory of Ambassador Joseph Hodges Choate, Harvard graduate in the class of 1852. The fellowship is awarded upon the nomination of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, England, to a British subject coming from that University to study in any department of Harvard University.
