Booth Gives Sixth Lecture In Christian World Series

Boston University Professor Speaks on "Old Testament"

Concluding that "the 'Old Testament' should be seen only as a rival of Homer," Edwin P. Booth, professor of Historical Theology at Boston University, last night gave the sixth lecture in the "Outlines of Christianity" series.

Professor Booth traced the history of the Jows, and development of thought about its interpretation from the Middle Ages to the present day. He stated that "we should reject any 'Old Testament' concept of authority which binds our minds."

A great literary work, the beauty in the book cannot be overemphasized, Booth said. He pointed out the tremendous vitality of the "Old Testament," showing that it is a dramatic history of the Jewish race.
