HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
Cambridge, May 10--Two thousand students of the University of Cambridge in the American State of Massachusetts have tried to force entrance into a boarding-school for girls from the most prominent families of the State.
The students threatened to set the building on fire in order to terrify the girls.
The police had to use tear gas bombs to drive the students out of the building.
In the course of the rioting forty students were injured.
(This clipping was submitted to the CRIMSON by a student in the Business School. According to his letter, his parents "expressed great concern over my being in a university composed of ruffians.").
