Captain Richard G. Powell Leads 1937 Crimson; Lettermen Returning for Most Positions

With Varsity candidates out tomorrow and Freshmen due to report Monday, the 1937 soccer forces plan an early drive in practice for a hoped for banner season.

Captain Richard G. Powell '38 heads the returning Varsity players. Coach Jack Carr expects defensive strength with the combination of H. Putnam Williams '39, Powell, Theodore P. Robie '38, and Joseph C. Bradley '39, all lettermen, in goal and at fullback.

Robert W. Scott '38 and George W. Phillips '39, also letter men and Sophomores James A. Rousmaniere, Mason Fernald, and Charles d'Autremont should also make up a capable halfback squad.

Offensively Carr faces his greatest problem at the start. Lettermen T. Newlin Hastings and Robert E. White, both Seniors, report they will be unable to play. Only Thomas Motley '38 stands out in an attacking wall which has given Crimson booters their chief disadvantage for the past two years.
