For its annual production, the Poet's Theatre plans the first performance of a new translation of Euripedes' "Alcestis" by Dudley Fitts '25 and Robert S. Fitzgerald '33, to be given early in May.
Though first performed in Athens 2,376 years ago, this play is said to have startling modernity of subject and treatment.
William B. Berssenbrugge '37, Poet's Theater director, who is coming from London where he has been working with Michael Saint-Denis, famous French producer, will conduct the rehearsals.
