JAYVEES DEFEATED BY Y.M.C.A. QUINT 47 TO 33

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Newport Y.M.C.A. quintet proved to be a tougher nut to crack than it looked, and Coach Johnny Wood's charges went down to a 47 to 33 defeat before the long-range sniping of the visitors.

The Crimson Jayvees jumped into the lead in the early stages of the game but were unable to hold it in the second half. Moving along rapidly after a 20 to 20 tie at halftime, the Newport boys piled up a large margin which the Woodmen could not overcome. Bill McSweeney and Fran Simpson paced the Crimson attack with nine and eight points respectively, but Campbell of the visitors stole top scoring honors with nine baskets.

The next encounter for the Crimson Jayvees is on Tuesday, February 14 against the Boston University Freshmen.
