INVOLVEMENT, NO WAR RISK TO BE DEBATED

Gardiner and Bundy Will Argue on Question of War

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

American Foreign Policy will be the subject of a debate at 8 o'clock this evening in Emerson D under the auspices of the Committee for Militant Aid to Britain and the Committee against Military Intervention.

The isolationist side will be upheld by Tudor Gardiner, Class Orator of 1940, and Robert A. Taft, Jr. 2L, while the interventionist point of view will be expounded by Richard M. Weissman 1L, and William P. Bundy 1L, former President of the Yale Debating Council.

Holcombe to Preside

Professor Arthur N. Holcombe '04 will preside as Chairman. This is the first open debate on the subject of aid to Britain to be held at Harvard since the question has crystallized as a matter of immediate public policy. There will be a question period after the debate.

The Militant Aid to Britain group announced last night that its petition with 560 signatures asking Congress for immediate aid to Great Britain, was presented to Sam Rayburn, Speaker of the House of Representatives, in Washington during vacation.

Outside speakers at a meeting later this month, and a concerted drive to recruit new members are also being planned by the Militant Aid Committee. The bill now before Congress asking for increased aid to Britain will be the subject of discussion at meetings to be held in the future.
