BRACKETT WILL PITCH; PARSONS AND BARNES INSERTED FOR HITTING PUNCH

By Dave Stearns

Deep in the abyss of a protracted hitting slump, the Crimson Varsity nine will have to rely chiefly on the pitching efforts of lanky, 145-pound Charlie Brackett when it tangles with a strong Boston University nine in a return engagement this afternoon on Riverside Field. In its second home game, Coach Adolph Samborski's Yardling nine meets the Terrier whelps on Soldiers Field at 4 o'clock.

In an attempt to revitalize the Crimson bitting, Coach Floyd Stahl will probably insert Bill Parsons in the second position in the batting order replacing Bill Hausserman, one of several who have failed to connect in the last three games.

Parsons, regularly second-string backstop artist, will take over Hausserman's outfield duties, probably moving to right. As a result Ed Buckley, who has accounted for two of the team's five hits in the last three games, will move over into the center fairway. Barnes will probably share the left field plot with Lou Clay.

DeMerritt Again Huris

Bill DeMerritt, cream of the Terrior pitching corps, will again get the call from Coach Mel Collard to face the Stahlnine. Last week he stifled the Crimson bats, allowing only two hits, but went down to defeat as a result of costly miscues by his mates.

Mort Waldstein, who struck out 11 of the Scarlet batsmen in the first encounter, went out with a blister on his pitching hand in the fourth inning against Cornell last Saturday and is not yet ready for action.

The Varsity batting orders: HARVARD  B. U. Keyes, ss  2b, Chambers Parsons, rf  lf, Lanata Harvey, 2b  3b, Thomas Tully, 1b  rf, Erickson Buckley, cf  cf, Williams Barnes or Clay, lf  c, O'Connell Whittemore, 3b  lb, Poltrino Regan, c  ss, Cummings Brackett, p  p, DeMerritt
