Dartmouth Offers to Buy Student Furniture

Council Committee Probes Feasibility of Plan Here

Furniture of Dartmouth students who are drafted will be bought by the College, it was announced in Hanover, Monday. This action was made necessary by the lack of secondhand furniture stores near the College.

Prices will be established by the college as closely approximating market values as possible. Meanwhile students can still store their furniture for the period of a year at the college.

Similar plans are under consideration for disposal of student's furniture at Harvard since a disastrous glut on the market may ensue if all men try to sell their belongings at once. At present a committee drawn up by the Student Council is investigating several alternative plans which may be proposed to University authorities.

The prospect which finds the most favor is that the University purchase the furniture of students who are drafted.
