Bells tolled in the Yard yesterday morning in tribute to the memory of Vic Ehler, the same bells which Vic rang for so many years to awaken generatons of Yardlings and call them to church.
This salute given by the University to a faithful worker of 17 years service, came at 9:55 o'clock, at the same time that Vic's funeral was taking place.
It was learned yesterday that Vic's unexpected death was the second tragedy in the Ehler family since the entrance of America into the war, Vic's son-in-law, Charles Lund, the husband of the Ehler's eldest daughter, Rita, had gone with a merchant ship, just 19 days after his marriage.
