AL McCOY LEAVES FOR ANNAPOLIS NAVY CLASS

Coach Will Direct Physical Training

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Al McCoy, backfield coach of the Varsity football team, and the Freshman basketball five, left Saturday to join Bill Neufeld, former Freshman track coach, in a one-month introductory course at the Naval Academy at Annapolis to prepare for service as a Naval Reserve Officer.

McCoy's duties at the end of this course will consist principally in directing physical training, including both sports and calisthenics, of either naval cadets or men already in the Navy.

Served Here a Year

After coaching at Colby College in Maine for eight years and Northeastern University for four, McCoy came here in March, 1941. He was very enthusiastic about his position at Harvard, which he regretfully resigned because he felt his responsibility to his country was too great to let him remain here.
