President Contant will speak to all the University Wednesday evening at 7:45 o'clock in Sanders Theater on the relation of the Student to the war. Speaking at the request of the Student Council Harvard Forum, this will be the first time since December 8 that he has made a personal address to the Faculty and students.

Four months ago when war was declared, President Conant stressed the necessity to "examine the situation carefully" before plunging emotionally into war service. Since then there has been an insistent rise of student opinion requesting that the University point a direction for undergraduate participation in the war effort. "President Conant is expected to answer many of the questions students have been asking lately," explained Student Council President Loren G. MacKinney '42.

Through the management of the newly organized Harvard Forum, Student Council affiliate, President Contant has agreed to outline his views on the relation of the undergraduate to the war and of liberal arts education to specialized training.

Forum to Provide Speakers

The Forum, under Chairman John W. Sullivan '43 has been created to provide the student body with well-known speakers on current topics. unlike the Yale Political Forum and the Princeton Whig-Clio, the Harvard Forum entails no formal membership. Its purpose as Chairman Sullivan put it is "to fulfill the need for important speakers on subjects of paramount interest."

Wednesday's address by President Conant will be the first of the Forum's programs. Sullivan will outline the aims of the Forum at that time and MacKinney will introduce the speaker.
