Come to Kirkland, Where a Cat Can Walk With a King

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

It was small and black and white and looked lonely in a distinguish sort of way, as it wandered confusedly among the long tables in the Kirkland House dining hall. It was a cat.

It must have been a smart cat because it came on a Wednesday and only a smart cat would know they served fish on Wednesdays in Kirkland House.

But it was also a brave and foolish cat. After it had finished eating about forty helpings of fish it wandered through a door that was bad to go through because the cat, although very intelligent and handsome, was really just an Apprentice Seaman and didn't belong in the Officers' mess.
