Master of Lowell Stresses 'Social Benefits' of Houses

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Standish Hall members of Lowell House were introduced to the House system at an informal 7 o'clock meeting last evening in the Lowell Junior Common Room. Over 35 Freshmen heard speeches by Elliott Perkins '23, lecturer in History and Master of Lowell House, and by Charles T. Noonan '46, chairman of the House Committee.

Liberal House Life

Master Perkins explained that the House system arose to give students the social benefits of a small college, while keeping the advantages of a great university. He emphasized that a House man's life is his own so long as he does not disturb others.

Noonan stressed the fact that although Lowell House boasts of its Phi Beta Kappas, its members, a friendly group, are active in athletic and social affairs.
