Film Ban Lifted But Amber's Sexy as Ever

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

An expurgated but nevertheless lusty "Amber" is free from further ravages of censorship.

In Philadelphia the presentation of the film resulted in a warning by the local archbishop against it, and pickets marched in protest around the two theatres featuring the "historical", picture.

Massachusetts State Censorship imposed three cuts on "Forever Amber" two weeks ago, after which the Police Commissioner, the Commission of Arts, and Mayor Curley, sitting as a city censorship board, struck out two additional parts.

Neither the State Board of Sunday Censorship nor a spokesman for the city censors was willing to state what parts they had deemed offensive to the morals of the local citizenry.

A member of the Boston Watch and Ward society told the Crimson yesterday that the group plans no action against the spicy picture.
