Weight Throwers Seek AAU Record

Outstanding weight-tossers Sam Felton '48, Harry Dreyer, and Jim Burnham will compete at Briggs Cage this afternoon in an official try for the AAU 35-1b. weight throw record. The contest will start at 1 p.m. and precede the full but informal track meet with BU and Northeastern.

Felton took fourth place in the 1948 Olympic hammer throw, while Dreyer, of the New York Athletic Association, was nine times national champion in the 35-lb. weight class. Burnham, captain of the Dartmouth track team, will attempt to break the Dartmouth record in this event, and if as he is up to form has a good chance of doing so.

Schedule

The events and times scheduled for the traingular track meet are the pole vault and high jump from 1:30 to 2 p.m.; the shot put and broad jump from 2 to 3 p.m.; and from 3 to 4:15 p.m. the 3/4-mile run, the 600-yard run, 40-yard high hurdles, 40-yard dash, 1000-yard run, and the 1 1/2-mile run.

BU and Northeatsern will race in the mile and two-mile relays, but the Crimson will not enter teams in these events, since the varsity ran a relay meet with Rhode Island and Brown Thursday.
