An ersatz Herman Hickman grinned foolishly and wagged his yo-yo at 2000 rally-goers last night as head cheerleader Jerry Liebman 50 presented "the biggest parade crowd I've ever seen" with the first gagged-up rally in recent years.
Hickman--actually Peter D. Dibble '48--lisped eulogies about the Yale team and introduced "some members of the squad"; his buxom pass-receiver, his fullback (six feet tall), his halfback (three feet), and his quarterback (one and one-half feet).
The crowd also saw three mop-haired reserve players growl at the microphone, watched Hugh Shepley '51 juggle, yelled for a speech from Duke Sedgwick's female cousin, and cheered the varsity at two rally sites--first Soldiers Field and then the Kirkland-Eliot-Winthrop triangle.
The only serious parts to the hour-long event came when Liebman introduced Roger L. Butler '51 as next year's head cheerleader and when backfield coach Steve Sebo promised "we're going down to New Haven and have every intention of taking the game."
