Debaters Donald A. Gianolla '51 and Alexandro Lichanco '51' successfully defended the negative yesterday afternoon against the Georgetown School of Foreign Service on the topic: "Resolved, That the basic non-agricultural industries in the United States should be nationalized."
The visitors stressed the necessary evils of capitalism, such as strikes and depressions, and declared that the only alternative is nationalization. The victors rebutted by pointing out the greater efficiency of production through private outerprise.
The debate team of Henry Q. Steiner '51 and A. Werner Pleus '51, arguing the negative side on the same resolution, defeated a Dartmouth team last night in the Eliot Junior Common Room.
