The freshman hockey team dropped its season's opener to Melrose High, 3 to 2, yesterday afternoon at the Boston Arena, although it came from behind twice to tie the score.
Goalie Nate Corning of the Crimson had a busy afternoon with 30 saves as compared to 18 for his opposing cageman, Dick Baker.
The visitors scored first at 5:20 of the opening period on a shot by Cicario, who was assisted by Cox and Lee. Less than a minute later Yardling Werner Willman tied the score on a pass from Dan Simonds. The third score of the period came on a solo dash by Titus of Melrose at 10:44.
The winning goal was made at 3:27 of the final period when Jim Lee of Melrose scored on passes from Tom Cox and Alex Cicario.
