14 Radcliffe Alumnae Get Fulbright Awards

An all-time high of 14 Radcliffe alumnae are studying abroad this year on Fulbright wards, Dean Bernico B. Cronkhite announced yesterday. They represent part of the 600 awards granted last Spring through the entire country.

Only one member of the Class of '50, Jeanne E. Melchior, was included in the 14. The others are past "Cliffe alumnae. The winners will continue their studies in the following six nations:

France--Elizabeth Gallaher, Marion Henderson, Marie Johnson, Miss Melchior, Denise Otis, Elizabeth Salmon, and Margery Ann Williams; Greece--Eve Catagygiotu; Italy--Joan C. Capeci and Minerva Pinell; the Netherlands--Elizabeth J. Weichel; Norway--Dorothy J. Burton; and the United Kingdom--Doris V. Evans and Isabel E. Gamble.

The Fulbright Awards are made from profits from the sale of war surplus property in Europe. The bill which authorized them was sponsored by Senator Fulbright of Arkansas.
