N. Y. Giants Upset Browns, Packers Tip Bears in NFL

New York's Giants scored the upset of the season in the National Football League by defeating the Cleveland Browns, 6 to 0, at Cleveland. Fullback Eddie Price scored on a short plunge in the first period to give the Giants a lead they never relinquished.

Great defensive play by New York prevented the Browns from crossing the 50-yard line throughout the entire first half. The Brown's star passer, Otto Graham, was bottled up, completing only 12 of 30 passed for 127 yards. It was the first time in their five-year history that the Browns had been shut out.

In other games, the Green Bay Packers toppled the favored Chicago Bears, 31 to 21, the Los Angeles Rams beat the San Francisco 49'ers, 35 to 14, and the Pittsburgh Stealers defeated the Washington Redskins, 26 to 7. In the Packers' victory, two of Johnny Lujack's passes were intercepted and turned into Green Bay touchdowns.
