'55 Team Topped By Brown Booters

Wet weather and Charley Gesen combined yesterday to give the Brown freshman soccer team a 1 to 0 win over the Yardlings at Providence. It was the first time the Bruin Cubs have whitewashed the Crimson.

Brown had a perfect set-up in the first four minutes when the ball sailed across the Crimson goal but hit the post and bounced out. The first half was scoreless--a strong wind hampered both teams.

At 9 minutes of the third quarter, right inside Gesen booted the ball past Crimson goalie Henry Pildner for the only goal, of the game. Led by Bill Cowperthwaite, the Yarlings pressed hard in the closing minutes, but a drizzle hampered the attack.

The Crimson found a new left halfback in in Ruskin McIntosh, who played well in his first game.
