The honeymoon is over for Frank Richart's varsity golf team. Undefeated in three previous matches, the golfers were crushed 7 to 0 by a tough Yale squad in New Haven on Saturday. The freshmen lost by the same score.
Line Roden, Eli captain, defeated Crimson first man Dusty Burke 5 and 3. Captain Paul Weissman, playing second, lost 6 and 5 to Bulldog Murry Vernon. Bill Timpsen, medalist in two other meets, was swamped 8 and 7 by Yale third man Wally Kilrea.
Fourth man Dave Hedberg went down to a 5 and 4 defeat at the hands of George Wislar of Yale. Doug Stevens, Eli fifth man topped Mitch Rosenholtz 4 and 3. Yale sixth and seventh men, Arule Lipman and Bob Barton, hung up identical 2 and 1 wins over their Crimson opponents, Jack Brophy and George Wheeling.
Ali seven freshmen were also beaten over the tough, woody Yale course. Playing were Bruce Thurmond, John Parsons, Pete Malkin, Jim Jones, John Walsh, Dave Strassler, and Mayer Hecht.
The varsity meets M.I.T. at 2 p.m. today at the Dedham Country Club.
