MacLeish Announces Prizes In Annual Speaking Contest

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors in good standing are eligible to compete for two first prizes of $35 and three second prizes of $25 in the annual Boylston Prize speaking Contest, Archibald MacLeish, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, said yesterday. He announced that entries will be due before Feb. 23.

The preliminary contest will be held in Paine Hall on March 9. The finals will be March 25.

To enter, students must register at Warren House 3, then submit their selections for approval to MacLeish, whose office is Widener Library W, by Feb. 23.

The selections, between five and seven minutes in length, are to be chosen from English, Greek, or Latin authors.
