Captain Dick Wharton captured three events and tied for first in another as he led his freshman team mates to an easy 95 1/2 to 30 1/2 opening victory over the Andover track team at the loser's school yesterday. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed due to rain.

Wharton, a tall, lanky middle distance runner, won the quarter, 220, broad jump, and tied for first in the high jump. Other winners for the Crimson include Phil Williams in the mile; Phil Easterbrooks, javelin and shot put; Mike Robertson, 220 low hurdles; and Pete Harpel, hammer throw.

Williams, in winning the mile, had the best performance of the day. His 4:27.1 was excellent for a freshman, especially this early in the season.
