Varsity Eleven Plays Yard, J.V. Teams In Preparation for Brown Game Saturday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The varsity football team scrimmaged against both a slippery-fingered j.v. squad and a solid freshman group yesterday, as Lloyd Jordan brought his charges up to late-season form in preparation for Saturday's game against Brown.

On defense the varsity consistently penetrated the j.v. line to throw the backs for big losses. On offense, the first backfield met temporary frustration in trying to crack the strong freshman forward wall, but then Matt Botaford broke through for long gains through the middle and around the ends.

Botsford, whose hand is still taped from a practice injury suffered two weeks ago, is now ranked fifth in the Ivy League in total offense, with 527 yards. On defense, the Crimson is first in the League, having yielded only 208.8 yards.
