Indians Narrowly Defeat Yardling Five

The Yardling basketball team dropped a close game to the Dartmouth freshmen 73-71 in the I.A.B. last night.

Eager to avenge an earlier loss to this same team, the '59 quintet got off to a quick start and led throughout the first half. The score at halftime was 44-38.

The second half proved to be a different story. Poor rebounding by the Crimson enabled the Dartmouth five to take the lead.

In the final minutes, however, the Yardlings suddenly came alive and the game became a nip and tuck affair. The lead switched hands several times but the team from Hanover came out on top. Good foul shooting by the Indians thwarted a last-second drive by the Harvard freshmen.

George Harrington of the Crimson and Stuart Hansen of the visitors tied for scoring honors with 19 apiece.

Next weekend, the Freshmen will travel down to New Haven to face a strong Yale team, in a game preceding the varsity encounter.
