Tuesday Evening Meeting to Open CRIMSON Freshman Competition

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The CRIMSON'S eight-week freshman competition for positions on news, editorial, photographic, and business boards will open Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m., in the Crime's 14 Plympton St. offices.

The competition will test the journalistic ability of Harvard freshmen and will determine whether any candidates meet CRIMSON standards for board members. Those who do meet the requirements will be elected at the end of the competition.

Candidacy for the news board will offer the competitor an opportunity to learn not only the routines and techniques of newswriting, but also to meet many of the men and women who make news in Cambridge.

For those who are more interested in developing their own techniques either in political or college editorials, drama, art, or literary criticism, humor or human interest, the editorial board presents an open field.

If you think your talents lie in photographic work, experienced members of that board will be able to give you helpful advice and the use of professional equipment. Money-minded men will find their medium in the business board, where salesmanship has been developed to an art and pressure tactics to a science.

Although not all competitors can go on to be presidents of Harvard, the United States, or toy-manufacturing concerns, there are those who have. To get the Class of '61 off to the right start in their pursuit of higher glory, the CRIMSON will provide appropriate liquid refreshment.
