Mathematics Team Takes Competition

The College mathematics team won the William Lowell-Putnam competition for the third straight year, L. E. Bush, director of the Mathematics Association of America, has announced.

Everett C. Dade '58 and Rohit J. Parikh '57 scored among the five highest entrants in intercollegiate competitive examinations last March. David B. Mumford '57, the third member of the team, was in the second highest group.

Andrew M. Gleason, associate professor of Mathematics, annually choose three members for the team, which has placed among the top three teams in the country each year since 1947.

Stephen Lichtenbaum '60 and Robert M. Solovay '60 were awarded honorable mention in the competition.
