Combined Charities Nears Goal; Radcliffe Drive May Reach $2000

'Cliffe Finishes Drive; Gifts Equal '57 Total

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A total of $1578 has been donated to the Radcliffe Community Service Fund Drive, Alene Wilson '59, co-chairman of the drive, announced last night. This figure does not include the contributions of commuters and graduate students which have not yet been tabulated.

Miss Wilson stated that she expects the final figures will show the total to equal last year's contributions of $2,000. There was no goal set for the drive, which started on Monday and ended last night, but the organizers are pleased with the amount collected by the Fund, she stated.

Average Contribution Was $5

The donations, which were collected by student representatives in each hall, ranged from five cents to $40, with the average gift around $5.

One interesting aspect of the drive was the failure of contributors to specify individual charities on their donations. Only $122 was designated for special use, most of it going to the American Friends Service Committee. PBH was the leading charity designated at Harvard.
