Denis D. Barber '60, has been arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident yesterday afternoon in Boston. A detective who witnessed the accident claimed that Barber struck a pedestrian and then fled.

The witness, who had been waiting for a red light, told police he pursued Barber several blocks before forcing him to the curb at the intersection of Charles and Boylston Streets.

Robert Stevens, the victim, was crossing a one-way thoroughfare near the Statler Hotel when Barber struck him, police said. According to their report, Barber was going in the wrong direction.

Stevens was taken to Boston City Hospital where he is in fair condition.
