Unopposed Candidates To Fill Council Posts

Unopposed candidates will fill a majority of the vacant seats on the Student Council, Thomas B. Merrit '61, Chairman of the Elections Board, announced yesterday. Contests have developed for only one of the 18 positions open.

And because no one from the Class of 362 in Lowell House filed a petition, Merrit revealed one seat on the Council would remain vacant for the next term.

The following students were declared selected without opposition: Richard H. John '62, Adams; Seamus P. Malin '62, David A. Rotwein '62, Dunster; toward J. Phillips '62, Eliot; John Mal-, '63, Eliot; Hugh W. McNulty, Jr. '62, Kirkland.

Also unopposed were Charles M. War-'63, Leverett; David Schwartx '63, Lowell; Thomas E. Petri '62, Quincy; J. Minihan '63, Quincy; Thomas E. '63, Winthrop; and Zachary Fisk Winthrop.

Elections for those seats, which are untested, will be held on Nov. 8-9. The House involved are Adams, Dudley, senator Kirkland, and Leverett. Those elected will hold their seats for a one- term beginning Feb. 6.
