Regional economic and political unity among African states is a necessary first step towards Pan-Africanism, James S. Gichuru, the Finance Minister of Kenya, told the Quincy House African Table last night.
A Pan-African Union is still in the talking stage, he said. He revealed with satisfaction, however, that a federation of the East African states of Kenya, Tanganyika, and Uganda is very close to reality.
