Four Stars Vie For 'Hogan' Film

Spencer Tracy, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Peter O'Toole are contending for roles in the film version of Hogan's Goat, by William Alfred, professor of English, according to Dorothy Manners, a syndicated Hollywood columnist.

Alfred was slightly surprised last night to see the report in the papers, but was delighted by the possibility that the movie rights had been sold. He himself did not know since he was unable to get in touch with his New York agent who is in charge of the negotiations.

Alfred intends to write the film script himself if the play has been sold. "The question is will I be able to keep in the film everything I tried to put in the play," he said. He added, however, there had been times in the writing of the play when he thought it could only be written as a movie.
