Bit of Sever's Ceiling Interrupts Math Class

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A five foot square chunk of the ceiling of Sever 36 fell in on Professor Raoul Bott's Math 11 class yesterday morning upsetting a wastebasket, a chair, and a desk and covering students in the front row with dust.

Bott observed the falling plaster non-chalantly, waited for the dust to dissipate, and resumed his discussion of the chain rule. He suggested that students pay no attention to the several large cracks in the ceiling.

After the class, the room was closed off for the rest of the day. Cecil A. Roberts, director of Buildings and Grounds, said the ceiling would be replastered over Christmas. Meanwhile, any loose plaster will be removed and the room will be occupied as usual.
