John Updike '54 To Read Poetry

John Updike '54 will read selections of his poetry tonight in Allston Burr Hall, Room B. The reading will begin at 8:30 p.m.

The reading opens a Tuesday evening literary series which will run until August 16. The Forum will be at the same time and place every week. They are:

July 26: Ralph Ellison, author of the Invisible Man, who will read from a novel now in progress.

August 2: Leslie Fiedler, the American critic of the novel, who will speak on "Realism: A Mythological Approach."

August 9: Allen Tate, the metaphysical poet, biographer, and critic, who will lecture on "Poetry: Modern and Unmodern."

August 16: Richard Poirier, editor and critic, who will speak on "The Environment of American Literature."
