Rabble-Rousers in Yard Urge Students to Gather, Eat Lunch

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Members of the Harvard Lamppon hierarchy yesterday denied that their organization was responsible for a morning rally yesterday at which students were urged to eat lunch.

A rift in the 'Poon coterie was apparent yesterday as a candidate to the Lampoon editorial board admitted that he and his fellows had premeditated the prank.

At 11 a.m. yesterday on the steps of Widener Library, two students with a bullhorn recounted their experiences in eating lunch, then pressed students in the Yard to gather at noon and eat lunch.

Cadillac

Meanwhile, an aging black Cadillac decked with bullhorns, cruised through the Yard and up Mass Ave, amplifying similar sentiments.

"We were as surprised as you were. We would have been proud if someone on the Lampoon had thought up something as clever," President S. Eric Rayman '73 said yesterday.

However, after some prodding, candidate Edward L. Trimble '76 confessed to The Crimson that he and his cronies had used Lampoon funds to rent sound equipment. Trimble said that such a prank was the traditional fare for the last "Fool's Week" of the candidates' competition for the editorial staff.
