Bobby Mitchell sank a dramatic 20 foot birdie putt on the first extra hole Sunday and defeated heavily-favored Jack Nicklaus in playoff for the title in pro golf's Tournament of Champions.
Mitchell had blown a chance to win in regulation when he missed an 18-inch putt on the 17th hole. He finished the 72 holes in a tie with the more renowned Nicklaus at 280.
Nicklaus, the recently crowned Masters king who was shooting for his fourth victory of the season, has a final round of 72.
