South House Group May Ask Master For Rule Changes

By Roger M.klein

The South House Committee considered a resolution last night calling for a formal written warning to offenders before any South House disciplinary actions are taken.

The proposal was prompted by the January 29 eviction of six South House residents on charges of "disorderly conduct". The students then charged they had received no previous warnings from Rulan C. Pian, master of South House, before the eviction.

The committee will submit the resolution, which also asks for student participation in the disciplinary process and an opportunity for offenders to contest the evidence against them, to a final vote next Monday.

The proposal will then be sent to Pian in the form of a recommendation. She could not be reached for comment yesterday.
