By Jeffrey A. Zucker

The Harvard women's squash team won its first Ivy League title and first nine-man national championship yesterday, thanks so its season-ending 6-3 victory over Yale in New Haven.

The Crimson completed its finest ever season at 7-0, snagging the nine-men championship that goes so the nation's squad with the best dual match record.

And the Ivy title now resides in Cambridge as well, after the Crimson sneaked out of New Haven with five-act victories in five of its six triumphs yesterday.

After Harvard's Mary Hulbert dropped a tough five-set match to the Elis' Zerling Goodman in number-one singles, the Crimson snagged five-set wins in the second, third and fourth positions on route to the triumph.

In the day's closest matches, freshman in-grid Boyum took the number two match, 15-10 in the fifth set. Captain Betsy Howe, though, dropped a five-setter at the number six slot by one point.

At the number three singles slot, Harvard's Laura Kaye completed an undefeated season of her own, downing Yale's Phoebe Trubowitz, 3-2, to become the Crimson's top player with an unblemished individual record.
