The Harvard women's lacrosse team, ranked fourth in the nation, will not participate in this weekend's ECAC Tournament, but hopes to receive one of six bids to the NCAA Tournament.
According to Harvard Coach Carole Kleinfelder, the Crimson was eager to participate in the four-team ECAC tourney. But Harvard was not able to secure the right to host the tournament in part because the football team will hold its only spring practice on Soldiers Field this Friday, the first day of the tournament.
Kleinfelder also cited injuries and her players' school work as reasons for not participating in the tournament.
Bids to the NCAA Tournament will be announced Sunday. Kleinfelder expects her team to receive one.
The first round of the tournament will be held on campus sites May 11.
